Synthesizing Our Reading

In Reader's Workshop, we've been learning about the reading strategy, Synthesizing. Below you will see some of our deep thoughts.

Kyla's Synthesis of Teacher's Pets

At first I thought Clifford, Chloe & T-Bone were going to be rewarded for doing tricks. Now I'm thinking they are being rewarded for being good dogs. I'm beginning to think they are doing their best to get a reward. Oh! This changed everything. They are graduating from Doggie School and they each got an award.

Aaron's Synthesis of Kick Off

At first I thought that the Tiki brothers were on the same team. But now I think they are not going to be on the same team. I think they are going to play different positions. Now I understand why they are not going to be together on the same team.

Garrett & Elliot's Synthesizing of The Wolf's Story

At first we thought the wolf was innocent but then he blew the pigs' houses down and then we thought he was guilty. We used to think he was going to eat the pigs. Our thinking changed because he was just trying to be a good neighbor. We both had different opinions about the wolf in the end. Garrett said, "I think he's guilty because he blew the pigs' houses down. Elliot said, "I think he's innocent and just trying to show a good example of how if it's really windy and stormy a straw or stick house blow down."

Nathan's Sysnthesizing - Fluffy's Funny Field Trip

At first I thought Fluffy was scared of the dark on his field trip to the planetarium. I thought of how I feel when I go on a field trip. Then I thought he was dreaming that he was running the place. He makes up a lot of new constellations that remind him of himself like a Big Food Bowl. I thought Fluffy had a good imagination. Finally he wakes up and wonders what's for dinner.

Jason's Synthesizing- One Pizza, One Penny

At first I thought they were going to be rich. Now I'm thinking they will make 1,000 pizzas. I'm beginning to think they get one penny and share it. I used to think they were going to be rich. My final synthesis is they made $10.

I didn't know that horses could live anywhere.

Chloe's Synthesizing

I learned Crater Lake is not just a lake. Now I think it was made by a volcano. I think there is still part of the volcano in it. I learned it still erupts. Now I think it's called a Strato Volcano.
